Over the last couple years AT&T has ramped up its efforts to bring a new cable TV service to its customers. While not available in all areas, this addition has sparked great competition between all of the Television programming providers bringing lower rate offerings to potential customers. In this article, I will show you some key points to remember when making a decision on your next cable TV service purchase or upgrade.

1. Step 1

   Depending upon what Cable TV service providers are in your area, there are a few things to consider when determining the best fit for you and your family. Price and options are obviously the biggest motivators however; most people do not take into account service and quality at first jump until they are already committed or have had bad experiences in the past. Ask your neighbors what services they have used and how many problems they have encountered such as outages and bad customer service. While many cable TV providers can get good or bad praises from chat rooms and discussion boards on the Internet, it will all come down to your specific locale.

2. Step 2

   While having the latest and greatest HD and premium channels would be nice, you need to ask yourself what you will actually watch, what your interests are as well as your families. You can check channel lineups from most of the cable and satellite companies’ websites to get a good idea of package costs and offerings.

   In addition to Cable TV programming, there are a lot of companies that offer bundled Services that include Internet, Home Phone and Cell Phone deals at a discount.    For those that live in rural locations, satellite or OTA antennae may be your only choice. Satellite companies offer good promotions most of the time but you are locked into contracts most of the time and face penalties if you disconnect services early. Your Internet connect options can be limited as well, although you can get broadband from satellite it can be out of some peoples budgets. If you have a cellular provider that provides a data connection in your area, you can use your cell phone or carrier specific broadband adapter to get Internet to your home for much less than satellite.
